| | Bakers’ Southern Traditions Peanut Company in Roxobel, NC recently made a donation to the American Cancer Society. Through the years the Bakers have known many people who have battled cancer, including owner Danielle Baker’s father who lost his battle with cancer in 2001, and recently family friend Charlie Vaughan who was diagnosed with brain cancer in August 2008. Charlie has been battling the disease and is currently getting good reports from the doctors. Charlie, his wife Cindy and their children, Courtney and Chase are residents of Bertie County and are big fans of Bakers’ peanuts. To honor him, a group of Charlie’s family and friends started a Relay for Life Team called Charlie’s Angels. Bakers’ Southern Traditions donated a portion of our May sales to the group. On June 15, 2009 Danielle presented Cindy Vaughan and Charlie’s Angels with a check for $422.40. Cindy stated “On behalf of Charlie’s Angels Relay for Life team I would like to thank Bakers’ Southern Traditions for the donation to our relay team. It is so meaningful that local businesses support our efforts to raise money for the American Cancer Society in their search for a cure.” Bakers’ Southern Traditions would like to say a big THANK YOU to all of our customers who purchased peanuts in May. Danielle summed it up by saying, “Bakers’ Southern Traditions would like to thank all of our customers who purchased peanuts during May to support local efforts that have an impact on so many lives.” | |
